About Me

Hi, I'm Christy Erwin!

I am an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor. I also have been certified in La Blast dance, Pilates, aqua, and yoga., CPR & AED.  I teach eleven unique classes through Howard Community College, Howard County office, The Parkinson Foundation, and now I've started my own company Longevity Fitness. Because I can’t sit still, I choreograph my own routines and I am proud to say that I normally have a waitlist for my classes!  What I am most excited about is how the classes are offered over Zoom, meaning anyone can participate!

I began my career as a physical education teacher and taught for 15 years at elementary schools. I left having earned the Exemplary Teacher of the Year award from my principal. During my time with the public schools, I initiated a health and wellness program for our staff, which included group fitness classes led by me. The initiative was to enhance the wellness of the staff and teachers in the school system.

I am an activist for children with cancer; I fundraise for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Most of my fundraising initiatives involve physical activity as a means of raising money for cancer research. One of my most exciting events was a family field day where families completed a 25-course obstacle challenge. It raised over $5,000.00 and received media attention. This was my single most creative endeavor, and it was a huge success. I fundraise for leukemia because my son is a leukemia survivor.
